Hurricane Ida

A Category 4 hurricane, Ida, came through South Louisiana on the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.  This monster of a storm left Terrebonne, Lafourche, and several other areas devastated. St. Joseph Manor had to evacuate, so Granny stayed with Mom and Dad for a week.  It was so nice getting to see her for a few days in a row!  Feeling very blessed the storm took a slight shift to the east.  It could have been much worse for Baton Rouge.  We lost our power for a week, but we are blessed to have a house generator.  We couldn't use the dryer or oven, and we didn't have cable or internet, but counting our blessings and feeling so fortunate our house did not have any damage.  

 

Catherine Chosen as First Grade's Cougars' Best

What an exciting day!  Catherine was chosen as First Grade's Cougars' Best for the month of August. This is the first time she's been chosen for this award.  Mrs. Albert said that Catherine is a sweet and kind friend to everyone, and that she is an amazing classroom helper.  

Mommy and Daddy are super proud of her!!

 We celebrated with cinnamon muffins for dessert after dinner.

AND... there was a stunning rainbow in the sky today.  What a special day!

We supported St. Jude tonight by buying some cookies from American Cookie Company.  

They were DELCIOUS!!

 

Union Pacific Big Boy

The largest steam engine in the world, the Union Pacific Big Boy, has been on a 10-state tour.  We went see it as it passed through and parked in Donaldsonville for a little while.  It was so interesting to see such a big train up close.  And it was SO LOUD!  Pop Pop taught y'all how to put pennies on the rails and find them after the train passes.  They flatten out like a pancake! What a fun afternoon!

Mighty Mermaids as the Pregame Walkout Crew for LSU Women's Soccer

Catherine and her Mighty Mermaids soccer team were selected by LSU Women's Soccer to be the honorary pregame walkout crew for the match tonight against Southern Miss.  Each paired up with a girl on the team to walk out together during the pregame festivities.  What a cool experience for Catherine and her team!  Thanks Coach Eric for making it happen!
